Come Together -
Waiting on the Other Side -
I found these artists busking in an abandoned shoe store on the way to get coffee one day. The rhythm, the lighthearted nature and strangely captivating vocal styles of Johnny Franco grabbed me and I had to get them into the studio. They were on tour from San Diego to Seattle, and I caught them on an off day before they had to play in Santa Cruz the next day. First thing in the morning we got to work, and pulled off a fine season of demos. It was scrappy and a session I’ll never forget, and some songs that’ll never get out of my head.
Number Nine Dream -
Hi-Hotel -
The artist Mike Coykendall turned out to be the true headliner of the group I found in that shoe store. Right as we wrapped up the session for Johnny Franco, the players started changing around instruments and I found myself recording another band entirely, much to my surprise and delight. What followed was one of the best examples of West Coast Folk Rock that I've heard since K-Pig.
All of Me -
Stella by Starlight -
This is taken from an EP that was recorded in a concrete grand room of a cult commune during the pandemic. I love good lore for a session. It’s a gorgeous example of the young jazz talent in the SLO area. Noah on bass is the greatest upright player I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and Emily has an unmatched talent for raw and powerful vocals. Truly some of the best raw performances I’ve ever tracked.

It's Not Your Fault (But It's Not Mine) -
Arthur Cope was the brainchild of singer-songwriter Jared Bobcean. Well, really it was just a collection of lyrics on his Notes app at first. This was a fellow Sweetwater sales engineer, and a fairly talented street performer that wanted to get some demos done with me. The project ended up blossoming into a five piece, adding in a drummer, banjo/electric player, and briefly even me on keys. Mostly I was the band's engineer and producer, with a friend acting as their promoter. It was a lot of fun putting on a few shows with them and getting some really solid tracks tracked!

Welcome to Unlimited Potential! -
I worked for about a year on the anonymous artist DATA Ltd.'s debut album Work, Death, Balance! This was a great time to get creative with audio procession to build a distinct empty yet edgy vibe, and I believe the sound of this came out fantastic for the Vaporwave genre, something I've been subtly involved with for a few years. The full version is available on YouTube with an hour's worth of music videos I edited for the project!
